Printing essentially comes down to four main elements – water, paper, ink and chemicals, all of which become waste products at some point in the printing process. Dome minimizes waste and cares for the environment in several ways:
We don’t use film. Computer-to-plate technology eliminates the use of film, which eliminates film disposal, film storage and the chemicals used to accommodate film. |
We use recycled paper. Our house paper is made by Consolidated Paper. It is composed of 10% total recovered fiber, and all post-consumer waste. We use products manufactured by companies that are environmentally sensitive – Consolidated Paper only manufactures or purchases pulp that is elemental chlorine-free or totally chlorine-free.We recycle all paper waste, plates and press by-products. From the press to the bindery, Dome recycles all paper waste, plates and press by-products, including oil.We take VOC reduction measures. Our facility is equipped with afterburning units to reduce the VOC emissions and protect Sacramento’s air. We also use low VOC, recyclable inks that are created from vegetable and synthetic products rather than petroleum. We use water in our processing. We’ve taken every step at Dome to remove harmful chemicals from the printing process and use water wherever possible. Even our in-line varnish is an aquaeous coating.Being environmentally responsible has always been a priority at Dome – a priority that we continue to hold high as we move into a new era of printing and printing technology.
